3/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work on the delivery side of our UK ice cream business, supporting a field team of sales reps with commercials and sales tools, while also working with delivery platforms to create joint value
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I massively enjoy my programme

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have developed time management, communication and presentation skills, while my confidence has also gone up

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Quite well structured, you manage your time with your line manager depending on what works for you. Most choose to have one university day on a Friday and work full-time Monday - Thursday. Things always seem to come up on a Friday but if you need to fully focus, take it off
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots of support, my education tends to take priority if there is a hard deadline
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Some support - there are reviews every few months or so, but as my course is mostly virtual there is certain limitations to the support they can provide
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I think it does because we get modules from an external sales training provider which are more applicable to my role than some of the modules we get from the university
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Lots and lots. There are networking events, after-work football sessions on a Tuesday and plenty more.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a very good, friendly culture and facilitates many learning and development opportunities, especially for apprentices and people on graduate schemes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Be yourself, be proactive, show you can problem-solve and think creatively. Remember - hard skills can be taught, but soft skills and your unique personality is what makes you who you are.
