Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Local manufacturing, helping with all aspects of this.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
there are aspects in which i enjoy, but overall I do not enjoy it

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt new skills specific to engineering such as CAD, interpreting drawings, planning

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Not very well organised. Early careers team who look after apprentices are often hard to get hold of, and give different information to different people. A lot of mistakes are also made leaving apprentices in difficult positions.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
In some aspects, I receive support which is above and beyond. This is from skills coaches. Higher up such as line managers within early careers has poor support for apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
This is where I feel I get the most support, and have managed to stay on top of the work very easily.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I feel that performing well in my role comes mostly from those within my placement, not from the training provider.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
There are some, but unless you know the correct people, the opportunities are very very minor. It is very much who you know, and opportunities are not readily available even if searched for.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend them as a company, but not for an apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Be honest, it doesn't matter if you don't know much already but a willingness to learn is most important
