Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Creating manufacturing instructions for the company, for machines and for construction of the product. working within excel to analyse metrics.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
It's very interesting but Barrow-in-Furness is quite far away from anything socially I enjoy so I don't enjoy long drives just to do things I like.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
excel, team working, communication, communicating with unknown workers, maths, writing

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The programme is not well organised with placement changes but the company are trying to improve this. Learning is well structured.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots. Plenty of people and other support options available.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Plenty. Every tutor gives different amounts of feedback and has different availability to support during assignment writing but those that do give support provide lots of help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Definitely provides further insight into useful knowledge for the role. Example being 3D design work used in university work perfectly complementing 3D design work I had to complete for the company.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Apprentices have a sharepoint they can access which gives plenty of extra-curricular activities that you can get involved in. Professional networking events also occur but not regularly for apprentices.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
A good and interesting place to work with good pay and benefits. A beachside location.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Sort accommodation early (a month or so before moving) to avoid having to pay more. Apply for other places, apprenticeships can be competitive. Ask for work, if you sit and wait for work to be given to you then you will miss out on some opportunities and be very bored.
