Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
College one day a week and taking part in rotating placements every 12 to 7 weeks up until June where it will become fulltime.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
College leaves a lot to be desired, but overall the time on site has been fantastic.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
There's already a lot to learn with electronics, but working on a BAE Systems site gives you access to a plethora of knowledge.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The placement rotations could be structured better such as overall 6 weeks for all placements rather than some having 12 weeks, it makes competing with varying time spent at each placement more difficult for those placed in an area with less time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot of support is offered.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
IPS make little effort when dealing with our difficulties, that much is shown by the amount of our feedback with no action taken.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It will give our employer (in our placement) a better understanding of our capabilities as engineers/technicians. Some of the things we have been taught coincide with what tasks we have been given in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a lot of clubs and groups of people doing different after-work activities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because I can see this role being good if you do not have to start in IPS. The company overall, I have nothing but praise for.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
There are a lot of people applying so there will be a lot of competition but, the apprenticeship will set you up for any future endeavours.
