Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I frequently work on providing data support for the programs in our drug discovery pipeline through analysis, visualisation and data pipeline troubleshooting. I also influence the design of data pipelines with work geared more towards software development, and a chance to apply AI/ML to our datasets.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Application of AI/ML | Data analysis | Work with and design of databases | Programming | Critical thinking | Ownership | Teamwork | Time management and prioritisation.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The general course structure is good with introductory modules to start and more advanced topics covered later. However, I have learnt a lot more on-the-job than through my learning provider, that quite often appears disorganised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
All the support you could ask for. 1 day/week dedicated to working towards the qualification, flexible if absolute necessary. A good environment and support network that's happy to support in any way they can.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Support is certainly there if needed, I attend regular check-ins to ensure my course is progressing as it should, which I find useful in keeping me accountable. The module leaders are approachable if advice is needed on more technical elements.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
There are times when things click and you see that the course is improving my understanding of the day job, but really the hands-on experience and requirement gathering for the projects in the workplace is where most of my learning comes from.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Of course, there are plenty of social activities like monthly pub gatherings to better get to know your colleagues as well as a network of other apprentices, IP and graduates hosting their own separate events like movie nights.
