Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am learning machining, making my own tools in a mechanical workshop. By my second year, I will be using CAD to make engineering drawings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am very happy I got this apprenticeship and enjoy work day to day.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I am now able to confidently use different types of machines and go through a job from drawing to completion.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It's the first year they're running this so not everything is completely planned but I understand what and where I could be working.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There are monthly pastoral meetings and the staff are very friendly and open to questions.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
There is a workplace assessor that visits us once a month with questions, they listen to any criticism about our lessons but it takes a long time for action.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I'm a draughtsperson but I'm doing a diploma in machining, some of the skills will be transferable later on but by the time I get taught a skill in college its likely I've already done it at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are some but I haven't looked further into it.
