Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We have several workshops, interviewers panels, and Q and A for those interviewers panels. The interviewers' panels basically have a topic every time. It would give us many valuable and nice comments about how to deal in the interview and talking about what daily as a software development engineer. After the panels, it would always come with the Q and A sections. People would answer our questions and our curiosity patiently and tell us more about what we maybe want to know. We have several workshops in small groups every day. We learned some coding skills and thinking, which I never thought of when I was in university. We try to solve the tasks by dividing them into smaller groups and sharing and explaining the code to others.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was really interesting when you know what people are actually doing in their roles, because some of the answers are maybe beyond your expectation, and feel curious more about it. You would also find out that maybe some roles are not doing the tasks as you expected, or maybe they are not omnipotent. Every engineer needs to search on the internet or ask others. Engineer is also not a role that is "lonely". It still needs some teamwork and communication with others.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Through the panels and Q and A sections, I developed some thoughts and some basic thinking about interviews and about what software development engineers are actually doing and thinking in Amazon. These sections are really fun and rich in content, which makes me know more about it. Through the workshops, I learnt some new coding skills and thinking ways. All the tasks are challenged and need to have time to think about it. Also, sharing and explaining your code to others is another communication skill that I learnt more for.

Company Culture

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight
5/5
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I think the company culture and the general atmosphere are very free and no barriers between people. People are all very open-minded and fond of sharing their experiences with others. We can ask questions no matter what we want, and also people would try their best to answer the questions. No matter by their knowledge or their experiences, they are all responsible and take those questions seriously, trying to answer the questions fully and abundant.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I am really happy and interesting to have the spring insight. These three days have taught me so many things. Through the panels, I learnt more about what we should do during the interview and what an actual day a software engineer is doing. Through the workshops, I learnt how to cooperate with others through live code to complete the tasks. Also, I learnt how to communicate with others about discussing the solution to the tasks and how to find ou the ambiguous part of the questions and then ask.

Yes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon
Do not be afraid to ask questions to the interviewers, and also, it is acceptable to ask questions to the interviewers. It may not be a good phoneme if you do not ask questions. The tasks are ambiguous, so you need to figure out what conditions you need and then ask the interviewers to make sure that you are doing what they want. I would say practice more and have different thinking when you are in universities when you are doing the tasks because you will get totally different kinds of tasks.
