Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The three days insight event was really helpful for knowing the Amazon culture and affinity etc. On the other hand, in the technical workshops with our mentors in small groups, that was helpful to know how amazon works. I have also understood lots of unknown topics, my mentor explained them very well. By joining this insight day, I connected with my mentor and other fellow students. Hopefully, this will help me in the future days.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Amazon is really diverse and innovative company. There are so many business roles and so many different things to do on an everyday basis. I have heard in the panel that someone started the job at Amazon 7 years ago and now her job is totally different from the first day. This is really amazed me that there is no time to be bored with one job. There are so many job roles on Amazon that I am really interested in being a software development engineer.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Yes, of course, I have learned new skills. At my university, I am doing Java and I have little knowledge of Python. Here, in the technical workshops, I have gained more knowledge about Python, some Data structures and Algorithms. I had some knowledge about time complexity, space complexity and Hashmap. I was not very clear about this topic, my mentor explained it very clearly. As well as, I have also learned some problem-solving and coding skills.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was amazing. I am surprised that Amazon has really diverse community of employees and customers. Amazon culture inclusion is based on 16 Leadership Principles. Customer obsession is the main goal of Amazon. As long as, I know the company culture and general atmosphere, all of the employees such as our mentors and the panellists were very friendly. They were always ready to answer any queries during the event and they are happy to help us.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I have enjoyed all the three days event. The panels and workshops both of them were interesting in different ways. In the panel, we knew a day in the life of a Software
Development Engineer on the first day of the event. On the second day, we knew the information about the recruitment process through interviews and an online assessment workshop, soft skills etc. On the third day, we know the information about the Amazon culture and affinity, mentoring scheme and the information about the internship. All of the workshops were helpful. I have really enjoyed the quiz that was so much fun.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon
When I was applying for this insight day, I shared the link with my friends to apply for the insight day. As we know that Amazon is one of the biggest multinational technology companies. After Joining this event, I have gained lots of other knowledge about Amazon that I can share with others. The most important tips that I can give others are to find out what they actually want and what their requirements are, make the CV simple and clean, and show all the experiences you have.
