Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As an Apprentice Field Technician. Every day I am out in the field. No two days are the same, I am sent out to a variety of locations, whether it is to install new Vodafone equipment, or to fix issues with existing equipment. The job is very self motivating as you spend a lot of the day alone, but it is very rewarding to do
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Since the program is not run by Vodafone, not everything that is covered in the course material relates to my job role. But that does not mean it wasn’t interesting. The courses and the knowledge that came with the course was engaging, and played a large factor in getting me to where I am today

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I came in to the job role with no experience in this field. In the year and a half that I have been with the company, I have learned so much, through the training courses supplied through the apprenticeship, as well as through Vodafone. Without a doubt the best way in which I have learned is by experiencing life out on the field. I now work on my own without shadowing my mentors. I am confident in the knowledge that has been instilled within me

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The course is easy to follow. The trainers are knowledgeable and helpful, and the website in which my course material was located was easy to use and understand. The dates in which work was due to be started/completed was clear, and the trainers were always there to lend me a helping hand if I had any questions
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
From day one I was sent out with one of our most experienced engineers. His knowledge is vast and he is very knowledgeable. Going out in the field with him, and all the other engineers in my team was the best way in which I was able to learn throughout my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
As I previously mentioned, the trainers were always there throughout the course. My trainer was excellent, her knowledge was brilliant and she was incredibly helpful. The trainers who ran the courses were incredibly knowledgeable, nice people who were very good at teaching. They would make the classes interactive rather than talking at you
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Vodafone were able to give me first hand experience out in the field, but Bud was essential for learning and understanding the theory behind my job role. I now have knowledge into the inner workings of the equipment and softwares that I use on a daily basis. Knowledge that I may not have had without the apprenticeship
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are always plenty of activities being advertised throughout Vodafone. Many opportunities to network within the company through said activities, but also through Workplace, which our company specific Social Media. Emails and messages via Workplace circulate regularly with various meet-ups and events that Vodafone are hosting all throughout the year

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Vodafone to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Vodafone has proven on many occasions that they are a fantastic company to work for. Everyone is friendly, especially the people within my team, who I speak with almost daily. I have already brought somebody into the company, and I wouldn’t hesitate to bring more in if I see the opportunity to do so.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vodafone?
Don’t be afraid. I came in to the job with no experience. My first few weeks went straight over my head, as I had no idea what anything was, or what anything meant. A few weeks in, my mentor said something to me specific to the job we working that day, and it suddenly dawned on me that I understood what he was talking about. It can be daunting to throw yourself into an unknown field, as I did. But the people around you are brilliant and you will be successful if you see if through
