Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
- Delivery of construction projects ranging from £2m to £45m.
- Assisted senior project managers in effectively overseeing office fit-out projects, ensuring seamless delivery throughout the RIBA stages.
- Navigating Joint Contracts Tribunal contracts while successfully overseeing the comprehensive management of contract documentation, including the preparation, review, and execution of contract agreements, change orders, and project-related correspondence with meticulous attention to detail.
- Drafting tender documents, ensuring clarity of requirements and compliance with procurement regulations.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the programme and what it is teaching me. The skills are invaluable and we are provided with a lot of oppotunity for growth through training.
The combination of studies and work is stressful and sometimes the environment does not feel the most inclusive. However, steps are being mate to improve that from my understanding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, particularly stakeholder engagement and contract administration processes.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme itself is well organised. However, the time required for university studies should be better enforced. I often feel bad for having to do my uni work and turn down work on the day I have preset in my calendar.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Support is there if needed in certain aspects such as APC support. I find the university support to be lacking and a little disconnected. Support day to day is good. My line manager sets up monthly catch ups which is very effective.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Support is there if you need it during term time. I think this is a little less available outside of term times and in busy periods of the semester. There are certain hours that do not always work with my work schedule so sometimes it can be difficult to locate the support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Generally, I think the knowledge I am gaining from my building surveying masters is benefiting my role as I have a better technical understanding. Instances that affect my performance are time pressures. There is a lot of content to cover during term time which is very difficult with my work load.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes. There are many sports clubs and committees. I think these could be better advertised or treated as a type of freshers' event to introduce clubs to people. But they are there if you search.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
You will gain invaluable skills for whatever role you progress to next. There is the opportunity within the business to explore different areas of real estate if desired. There is a good level of support and the people are generally friendly.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
I would advise others to approach Savills with a willingness to learn and to talk to as many people within the business as possible. There are so many different business lines to explore.
