Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

First year - Full time college. Second year - Working on aircraft engine components with qualified engineers to learn the trade, completing a day release college course, while completing a L3 NVQ
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Very enjoyable, engineers are amazing and a good laugh, and enjoy waking up to something interesting every day

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

learned lots about engineering and aircraft engineering specifically throughout the apprenticeship

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Structured good, the three years are planned out with different section rotations throughout the factory throughout the 3 years
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Some support with college work however mostly from the college tutors as they tend to know more about the qualification specifically as they teach it, the company are amazing with support for the on site work
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

For NVQ they're very supportive and always allow time for us to complete it and have assessors all throughout the factory who are very helpful and knowledgable, college work tends to be managed and supported through the college network due to them knowing more about the L3 BTEC
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

IT teaches you a lot about aircraft engineering even including engines, on wing and airframes. The course is beneficial for future career growth
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Why?
I enjoy working here and there is a great atmosphere between the shop floor and apprentices and everyone is so friendly and helpful when working on a day to day basis, also allows lots of career growth
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GE Aerospace?
Keep working on your qualifications and if you don't get in first time then try again and again, no better career path in wales to take so it is vital you don't give up, nearly 1000 people apply each year so make your CV stand out, do as many extra curricular activities as you can and really focus on personal development
