Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
This was a virtual insight experience that also included a mentoring program. There were a variety of soft skills and technical workshops, aimed at developing employability and software engineering skills. Half the day consisted of panel discussions/talks on topics like interview practice, company culture, etc., and the other half was in smaller breakout rooms with a software engineer, working through coding exercises.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was great, we heard from people in a huge variety of roles, sharing their insights about the business and company culture, as well as the potential roles available to students after this insight program. Hearing first-hand from employees gave us lots of insight.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Definitely - I developed lots of existing technical/soft skills, as well as learning new skills. I learnt a lot more about the importance of defining requirements (especially during technical interviews), and consolidated knowledge of data structures and algorithms.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Genuinely really lovely. There was a student in my group that didn't have much coding experience, and our mentor was incredibly lovely about it - she explained everything from the very basics, and everyone in the group was constantly sharing resources to help each other.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I genuinely really loved this insight program - it was organised and structured so well and everything ran so smoothly. Everyone was so nice, my mentor was an absolute angel that had so much knowledge and the other participants were super friendly and helpful. The mentorship scheme is an amazing touch, and I've come out of this insight program feeling like I've really learnt so many things over the last three days.

Really research the leadership principles - Amazon places a huge emphasis on them (especially customer obsession!).
