Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The event gave immense amount of information about the interview process for us graduates for a potential internship. Each day there were workshops that helped improve our programming skills and we had talks with former colleagues from Amazon where they discussed information about what Amazon is like and the work environment they have. The technical skills section in the workshops were interesting and it helped improve my coding skills and I now know what to look out for to make my programs concise.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It helped narrow down which field I wanted to go into in the future and helped solidify the way in which I need to work in order to reach that goal. The event leaders provided fascinating information about the interview process that I didn't know about and if I apply these pointers in my interview then I am sure that I will end up being successful. The information provided helped give a better insight to the life of people at Amazon as well as the culture of the employees.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Yes, my perspective on programming has changed drastically. I know what I need to do and which areas I need to work on in order to improve my skill set for the upcoming internship application process. Using the information I gained from this experience, I will be more attentive in my interview and I will be well prepared to catch out situations where the interviewer is interested in certain sections of code or specific ways of writing code.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Welcoming and supportive. The environment was very friendly, it was easy to talk to the mentors and ask questions. Explanations were critical and concise which is what I expected from people working in the field. It was great to get advice from professionals and I hope that using this information will help me in the future. The mentors were also very approachable and I believe that they helped improve my perspective on programming as a whole.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I enjoyed the event, it opened my eyes to the newer possibilities in terms of technical skills. I found that learning about a big company like Amazon couldn't be more interesting and I enjoyed deeply being involved in the workshops because I learnt so many things and skills that I didn't really know about. Some things weren't taught in university yet which made doing tasks harder than usual but I learned a lot regardless.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon
I would advise people to apply because it would help open their eyes to a great experience. This is an experience that not many will get to have so I think that others should take a chance and it would benefit them well. I learned a lot regarding the interview process and I am sure that this will help me for the rest of my life in terms of job hunting and technical skill development.
