Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Trainings at University.
Training at National grid training centre. Learning about High voltage asset and equipment. Learning the theory and then practical.
On site I work with my team ti Carryout maintenance on HV asset safely.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Absolutely amazing. Very difficult and challenging to much it test all your abilities. Love working with experienced staff and engineers and Learn from them.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Understand the High Voltage electrical system.
Carry out maintenance on HV asset such as transformer, Circuit breaker, air compressor, batteries system, Diesel generator and many more.
Managing training, university, exam, assignments, logbook write up and project.
Understand safety rules and regulations.
Doing mathematics calculations the is important in electrical systems.
Using varies software and testing machine.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Great mixture of training and on job time. I know my plan for the whole year ahead which allow me to manage , prepare and plan in advance.
The company is very supportive in term of changing and adopting the timetable of courses.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

One call of text away. Always supporting when I asked and did there absolutely best to help. Nationalgrid have fantastic work culture.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

National grid training center has the amazing training instructor. The full of theoretical and practical knowledge. I have received a lot of support from the tutor and organisers, mangers, engineers and supporting worker that put the apprenticeship at excellent place.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The training is 100 percent required for my job because without that it would be a sucide to working on High voltage systems.
The industry I work is full of dangerous and hazardous environment. The training, knowledge and qualifications is the exact reason the help me to perform my job safely and efficiently.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes. While training at waiting we been provide a lot of activity and facilities to carry out fun and sport activities. Such as football pitch, pool table, dart, game room, gym, cycling, and other.
On site we have team meeting every month.
At Christmas we do dinner where whole team get together and spend time which paid by the company.
I have opportunity to attend networking events and share my experiences with colleagues and schools.
I have provided with IEEE promotional memberships

The thing I just mentioned.
The salary is good.
The training is amazing.
The support is reliable.
Company reword scheme is absolutely out of the word and fantastic.
If you work hard there are numerous opportunities for progression
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to National Grid?
Th job is amazing but due come with challenges and hard work. Make sure you have good knowledge of maths and have keen interest is engineering.
If you want to do it you can achieve with hard work and dedication
