Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am working as a Trainee HR Advisory. I am completing 6 month rotations in the HR Services, Learning and Development, HR Generalist, Inclusion and Diversity and Recruitment Teams. I have just finished my rotation in HR Services where I worked on a range of processes and answered colleague queries. I am now starting with the Learning and Development team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love my apprenticeship. I was welcomed by my team and I really enjoy my role. It is a great opportunity to gain a qualification and experience at the same time. I also get to rotate every 6 months, this means I get exposure to various areas in HR which helps me develop my knowledge and skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt so much in the past 6 months. Every day I learn something new. I’ve built on my communication and collaboration skills by working with a range of colleagues, this has also developed my team work skills. I have also built on my time management skills as I have to manage my work and study.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well organised. The teams were prepared for us to join and were all very welcoming. We have set tasks and responsibilities and we get to join organised apprenticeship webinars or networking events. The apprenticeship provider organises all our workshops and they are online which makes it easier.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer. If we have any questions or concerns the apprenticeship team are always there to help. As well as this, my managers have been extremely supportive and I have learnt so much from them. Anyone in the organisation is willing to help which is great.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from my training provider. I have a tutor which I can go to with questions as well as the workshop leader. Our feedback also gets fed back to them through our account manager so if we have any questions or concerns the apprenticeship team can pass it on.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification will help me perform better in my role as it enhances my knowledge and skills which provides a solid foundation for effective performance. It helps build confidence in my role and opens up opportunities for career growth and can also help toward professional and personal development which is good.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work. We have social activities on the last Wednesday of the month and there is also a Pilates class every Tuesday. As well as this other one off socials get organised such as quizzes. We also have apprenticeship networking opportunities where we can build connections.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
Yes
Why?
WTW has a positive inclusive culture which fosters collaboration and a supportive environment. It is an enjoyable place to work which prioritises employee wellbeing. Everyone is welcoming and is happy to help you with your development. There is a great office environment with the flexibility to also work at home.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
My advice is to research the company and understand our core values, using this in interviews will help. I would also use the STAR method to show examples. The STAR method is situation, task, action and result. By using STAR you can structure your answers well. Most importantly just be you!
