In my role as a Human Resources Apprentice at Airbus, each day presents a new set of opportunities and challenges. With three-month placements, I am able to engage in a wide range of responsibilities and projects. From collaborating with different teams on exciting initiatives to providing support to employees in various aspects, my daily tasks are diverse and stimulating.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

So far, I have thoroughly enjoyed my programme with Airbus. The supportive environment, inclusive culture and the range of opportunities contribute to a truly enriching experience. Each day presents exciting challenges and learning opportunities including networking, workshops, projects. There is also so much going on to get involved with, sporting events, social events etc.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Throughout my apprenticeship, I have experienced substantial growth in both acquiring new skills and developing existing ones. The nature of the program, with three-six month placements, has fostered skills in adaptability and flexibility. I have also improved my communication and collaboration skills through constant interaction with different teams and stakeholders. Additionally, I've gained proficiency in time management and prioritisation as I navigate my tasks and responsibilities.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of my apprenticeship is well organised. With three-month placements spanning various areas of Human Resources, I have the opportunity to gain comprehensive experience across HR. Additionally the weekly allocation of one day for college work ensures a balanced approach to both practical experience and academic learning.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Apprentices receive lots of support. Each apprentice has a Target Area Owner (TAO) who is responsible for managing Early Careers employees in their function, a placement manager who is the person you report to within each placement and an Early Careers Manager. There are also a range of Employee Resource Groups that provide lots of support!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

While working towards my qualifications I receive lots of support from my training provider. I receive lots of feedback on assignments from my tutor and have monthly meetings with someone from my college who reviews my work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The knowledge and practical skills gained through my coursework directly complements the hands-on experience I acquire during my apprenticeship. This allows me to approach tasks with comprehensive understanding.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes! We have many Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) which all offer lots of different activities to get involved in. There are lots of sporting activities and social events that are open to everyone.

Why?
Airbus offers a supportive work environment where personal and professional growth are prioritised. It is such an exciting company to be a part of with endless opportunities. For apprentices there is a huge network of early careers with lots of things to do.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Airbus?
Don't be scared of the interviews- just be yourself!
