Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a simulator technician, my job is to ensure that the devices the team and myself work on are to a suitable standard for training. We have customers come from all over the globe to train on several different aircraft simulators that we have to offer.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme that has been offered has been great. I have met so many people from different places around the world and been able to learn about each company they fly for or are teaching for.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Starting this job has allowed me to massively widen my skill set as well as develop skills I already have. The skills I have gained/improved are: Working with a team, communication, customer service, problem solving, working under pressure and much more

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I would say that the programme is well organised and planned out. There are some hiccups that pop up but not everything can run smoothly all the time. But it's made up for in the future when there is time

How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support I have received from the employer and other employees has been amazing. Any questions I have had have been answered or forwarded on to someone that has the information about this. The response I get is quick and very detailed.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support received on our qualifications has been great. We have been able to speak to some of the previous apprentices that have gone through the course about there time doing the qualifications and if there are any tips on what they did to manage through it with work.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualifications that have been achieved so far have allowed me to understand the systems I am working on in more depth and allow me to spot faults that could occur quicker and more easily.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

STEM is a big thing at Boeing. There are usually several events that happen during the year. whether it's going out to schools, or going to air-show events to express what we do for a job.

Why?

Boeing is full of great opportunities. Growing up I never knew that I wanted to do for a job. This caught my eye and here I am 2 years into my apprenticeship enjoying every single moment of it. The people you work with also make the job what it is.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Boeing UK?

Don't hesitate. Go for it. The experience, People and events make the job so exciting. Boeing isn't just a job, it's a career that can take you anywhere. I highly recommend the company. Boeing surpasses the sky is the limit. Anything is possible with boeing.
