Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am currently in my first year which is in a sheltered college environment. In the hanger I have developed my hand skills when completing practical tasks, as well as team working skills when working with others. This has included jacking the aircraft and completing an insert repair.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme. I enjoy having access to a great hangar environment, and having the flexibility to go in there for practical demonstrations any time I'm confused in the classroom.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt lots of new basic hand skills when working in the hanger. These have included learning how to correctly use a file, pneumatic air drill, riveting gun, and pillar drill.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well organised. We follow a structured timetable, but still have the flexibility to spend more or less time on a task/module if needed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a good amount of support from my employer. Access to support has always been made clear and available from the start, and I know where to go if I do need support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive lots of support from my training provider. I have excellent tutors that deliver the content well, and am provided with great aids such as books and tablets to help me with the modules.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualifications I will gain will greatly help me in my role when I go in too the working environment. They provide me with the necessary basic understanding I will need.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have already been provided with multiple opportunities for social networking, as well as being able to volunteer at STEM events.

Put a lot of effort into the application process - it is a very competitive apprenticeship. But also enjoy it and show your personality.
