Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
We carry out 6 month placements around different parts of the business which is entirely our own choice and what experiences we want and the skills we want to develop. So far I have completed placements in Customer Services, Marketing, Supply Chain, Meter Operations and Finance. These are varied placements but I believe it is the best way you can learn and develop.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my scheme and I have always stated it has been the best decision that I have made. The fact that we have our degree fully funded for by the business, as well as earning a salary and gaining vital experience it is an absolute no brainer to do a degree apprenticeship especially with E.ON.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt so many new skills that it would be hard to list all of them here. Some of the key skills I have learnt or developed are: communication, presentation, networking, project management and stakeholder relations. The different placements that you carry out allow you to constantly adapt and learn new skills that tie in to that placement.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The degree apprenticeship scheme is structured very well in terms of having 8 x 6 month placements over the course of the 4 years of the apprenticeship. When joining the business I was assigned a business mentor who has been amazing to help support me on my journey, whilst also a buddy which is an older degree apprentice to also help support you.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We as apprentices receive so much support and we're very lucky for how much we do receive. The business recognises that we are young and that we're still growing and developing and recognise the importance that the correct support needs to be put in place especially as many apprentices join straight after leaving school.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Our head of apprenticeships at the university is outstanding and really is great in helping support us through the modules and making it a lot easier to understand what we need to do to progress and the different pieces of work that are required to be completed in order to obtain our degree. We are invited in every few months to sessions of which they run to ensure we're on the right path.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My degree definitely helps me perform better in my role because it is so broad, we have the opportunity to learn about different modules including, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, Project Management etc. These modules help us learn about different areas of the business and some of the work that goes on.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Last year we setup a 5 a side football team where we invited anyone and everyone in the degree apprenticeship community to get involved. We also have community engagement days where we volunteer and help out in local communities. We have socials throughout the year where we will grab some food and drinks and continue to build our relationships.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend E.ON UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The best decision I ever made, everyone is so happy to help you out as apprentice and support you. The opportunities we get are second to none and I am very fortunate to be in position that I am today. Also, getting to know so many colleagues you understand how many people have been here 10+ years and I think that in itself shows what a great business it is to work for.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
My advice for applying for E.ON apprenticeships is to really be yourself. Don't try and pretend to be someone you aren't. Also, research into the sector and what the business does, it goes a long way in showing people that you have taken the time to look into the business and shows a great attitude in wanting to succeed.
