Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am currently studying at the ICAT college in Rhoose, so my day to day basis normally consists of classroom based study and developing hands on skills in the hangar. I have undertook a variety of task such as jacking the bulldog aircraft, simulated insert repairs and practicing wire locking.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i am thoroughly enjoying my apprenticeship programme at the moment and the future looks very bright with the introduction of on job training. i have met a good group of people on the course with whom i get along with very well so every day is enjoyable and the content were studying is very interesting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

so far i have learned basic hand skills while while using tools and also how to safely operate power tools. I've also learned more professional skills such as time keeping and how to network. Finally, due to the apprenticeship being away from home i have developed a lot personally in regards to living by myself.

The programme is very well structured and offers a good amount of training and insight before going onto on the job training

At ICAT we receive a lot of support from highly experienced lecturers offering us not just the knowledge to pass exams but to also be valued members in the field.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification allows for me to go on on the job training with a base knowledge so the work ill be undertaking will feel familiar.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Boeing offers a lot of professional networking events, especially through STEM events. We also do many team building days out which really helps us grow as a team
