Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Everyday is different when working at Boeing. One day I could be carrying out scheduled maintenance inspections and the next changing large components such as an engine. I am trusted to work on complex components with the assurance that i have received great training and continuous development throughout the course.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

If I had a magic ward whereby i could go back to the start and do it all over again i would. The chance to move to a different part of the UK every 6 months, learning a different aircraft and way people work has set me up ideally for my future career in the aviation industry.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed a variety of skills with regards to maintenance, so many that i cant list them all here. Something that i would remark is this apprenticeship has taught me more about life that i would have expected, things like finding my own accommodation, money management, time management all things that some people have to learn my trial and error but with the help and support from Boeing and ALS i have not had to make expensive mistakes

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The senior leadership team at Boeing 100% support the apprenticeship programme, this in turn leads to a well structured programme with the course running smoothly as well as externally planned activities such as STEM events, teamwork days and specifically allocated career development days.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

100% our manager is as loyal as she can be. Any issues raised are dealt with effectively and efficiently. As previously stated she goes above and beyond to organise events to foster a healthy work environment and future development.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Once again 100%, any issues i raise in my monthly meeting with my training provider are sorted/ questions answered quickly and effectively.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Without this qualification i would not be able to do the things i do. 100% without the qualifications gained throughout this apprenticeship i wouldnt be in the position i am today.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, as stated in previous answers Boeing offers future career development events, professional networking and social activities.

Would you recommend Boeing UK to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Boeing has given me the opportunity to build a career in the aviation industry that will carry me through the rest of my life. I choose to start a career with Boeing over other aviation companies and i believe i have made the correct choice

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Boeing UK?

Have a well written CV that doesn't just show your academics, show the person you are. Sports, entertainments and other activities you are involved in. Be honest and know that it is going to be a difficult 3 years, but easy things aren't worth doing and pressure makes diamonds.
