Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Driving buses on a variety of routes
Handling money and electronic transactions
Following diversions where necessary
Sticking to a timetable as best as possible
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The interactive learning days provide a good breakup of the months and it’s nice to have many people to be able to reach out to

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I learnt how to drive a bus

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
One of the best structured apprentices I’ve seen. I’ve been a part of two including this one and there is a lot more structure and support with Stagecoach and realise
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive adequate support from my employer, the apprentice guys are where I get the most support
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Support from the TDOs is second to none. They’re super responsive, always try and have a laugh with you but teach valuable lessons and skills at the same time. No one session is the same and if you’re ever having issues, they’re an email or phone call away!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The information provided by the training officers is exceptional. They really understand the new driver mentality and make sure you’re not over confident but that if your confidence does take a knock, they’re there to pick you back up. There’s a lot which experienced drivers don’t tell you at the depot which you find out via the online sessions.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
As far as I am aware, it’s just the cpc courses which are a little social, bus driver of the year and the individual depot activities

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Stagecoach UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It’s a really interesting job to do if you fancy yourself a good driver. I least a lot more driving a bus than I did having my full uk license and was out on my own.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Stagecoach UK?
Be prepared to put the work in as this isn’t like any other job you’ve done (unless you’ve been a bus driver before!) use all the resources available to you and just have fun. The memories you make with the people you meet will last a lifetime, even if the career choice isn’t for you!
