Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role consists of working and communicating with a wide variety of people both internally and externally. My main responsibility is to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of a team of 14 people who work with me and help them develop there skills and knowledge of flood risk management
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the workshops and my development coach is lovely and so helpful. The stuff that I am learning I'm able to easily put into practice within my current role. In honesty, I do sometimes struggle a bit for time to do the assignments alongside my current role
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My apprenticeship has really helped me in my role and I am coaching people within my own team but also wider within my organisation which I really love. I've learnt how to effectively coach a wide variety of people and it has also helped develop my own leadership skills
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The assignments are well spread out and there is a clear programme with each of the modules. It is a bit daunting having to find your own coaching clients at the start. The handouts and materials are good but sometimes I have found it hard to find things on the website
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Due to the nature of my role as a team leader I sometimes find it hard to carve out time to dedicate to the apprenticeship but my employer and line managers have been very supportive. I think they can see the value that this apprenticeship will bring to me and the organisation.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My development coach has been really helpful and supportive. We've been able to flex assignments and certain bits to give me more time or space to do them if I'm going through a busy period at work. My development coach is really friendly and will always promptly respond to emails if I have any questions or queries
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have started coaching people within my team/department and in other areas of the organisation and have seen the positive results my clients have gained which makes me feel really proud. I think it has also helped me as a team leader with tools that I can use in my current role to be more effective

Yes, there are a variety of networks and social, extra curricular activities which I have found useful and helpful.

Do some research and look into capability based interviews which is the system the EA uses to hire people
