Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I’m a project manager, which means ensuring we’re working to a schedule, achieving it as per the financial forecasts and to the desired quality. I hold meetings, make reports, schedules, forecasts tender suppliers and contractors.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
Great programme from the employer, lots of comradely between us 10/10. However the programme provider, QA, has to be the worst company I've ever dealt with. I couldn't possibly give a positive score to this. We've escalated our complaints to deaf ears, they weren't even mildly interested in feedback.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Project and programme management, scrum, financial awareness, governance, corporate management etc

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
From the emmployer, super well structured with learning, lots of opportunities to attend events, socials and development type activities. From the training provider, I'd describe it as a complete joke. I'm currently pushing that we leave QA with my employer desperately.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots. My LM, apprenticeship team, task managers etc have all been super supportive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
None. Training provider has been an absolute hinderance to me throughout. Glad to be rid of them. Again, provided feedback, nothing. Provided evidence of clear, systematic issues, nothing. I'd have more support talking to a mirror, or a brick wall.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Good qualification. Provides the theory for what I do. Shame I've no faith in the training provider. The module tutors are unqualified and couldn't provide a solid experience. If anything, I've learnt the importance if integrity, honestly and accountability through watching my training provider continue to ignore all feedback.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Loads, my employer is awesome and supports me joining a huge number of initiatives.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Atkins to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Atkins is an awesome place, it invests heavily into its people and thats felt constantly.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Atkins?
Atkins is a large company. Like many others, most of our HR, recruitment and other functions are off-shore or centralised meaning teams don't get much control on the process. Be honest and persistent is the best advice I can give.
