Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work as a project manager delivery network projects into our datacenters. This involves working with vendors and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and to cost. Over time my accountabilities and responsibilities have grown in line with my experience and I am empowered by my manager and team around me.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Within work I am empowered by the responsibilities given to me. The overall youth experience at Vodafone is great, there are lots of others at a similar stage of their career so lots of opportunity to develop a network and discuss with them.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
As part of the training we do a degree qualification in project management, this teaches the theories behind day to day project management and then as part of assignments we link that back to daily work.
Within the workplace I am given responsibilities and task that allow my practical project management skills to grow.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
There is a clear structure around the apprenticeship Programme that is led by the future talent team, this is fed back to the business for teams and line managers to get on board.
As part of that there are opportunities such as Outward Bound Weeks for further development.
There are works in progress with the provider to improve some of the organizational areas that are less developed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As flagged ,y team empower me and support me when required. There are plenty of other opportunities with Vodafone to develop networks and get more exposure which contribute to the wider support package. The future talent team and HR teams appreciate the differences of an apprenticeship programme and are always on hand to support when required.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Weekly or bi-weekly workshops provide the taught content with office hours available with the lecturers for additional support.
We have 12 weekly reviews with a skills coach to review progress towards apprenticeship standards.
All this is virtual which can sometimes detract from the learning experience but given the circumstances works well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It provides the theoretical context to day to day work practices. The reflective part of the taught content is particularly useful in understanding what theory says versus what happens in the real world.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, Vodafone have a Youth Committee who work to support the experience of those on programme. They organise a wider variety oif event withing work time such as networking and senior speakers from the business as well as a number of social outside of work time which include sports, pub quizzes, etc.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Vodafone to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Vodafone is a really exciting place to work with lots of transformation ongoing that you are a part of on a youth programme. The support you get from within your team and the wider business is invaluable. The community of people within Vodafone is really special in creating that environment and I couldn't recommend it enough!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vodafone?
Just be yourself! Vodafone are looking for authentic passionate people, seek to display that throughout the assessment process. The assessment process can be scary but the people are lovely and are trying to make it an enjoyable experience, lean into that and seek to display your authentic self to them!
