Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Solution Engineering is a sales role supporting the account executives. This means we have a deep understanding of the products we sell, we do discoveries with the customers to understand their needs before coming up. with a solution to solve their business challenges. This can be demos or POVs which help bring the product to life for the customer.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I really enjoy the work I do, the people I work with and the company culture. However the training provider has not been a enjoyable experience. This is changing, as we are moving to a new provider that will hopefully understand our role better and be more relevant to the business and job we do.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt lots of new skills ranging from presentation skills, to business acumen to people skills in a large enterprise company. In the role you meet lots of customers from CEOs to service agents, which means you have to be able to talk about a large range of issues that could be impacting the business.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme has a good onboarding process and lots of support in the first year. While those people stay into the second and third years there is less guidance or clear expectations to the targets we are supposed to meet. Our old training provider is very unorganised and do not send out pre-work or marks in a timely manor.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Our employer provides a lot of support. We have mentors, buddies and host team managers, which means there are always people we can talk to. The company culture is great and people often checkin to make sure you feel supported and aren't struggling at work. I have no complaints to the support I get from my employer
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Our old training provider do not support us well from an academic perspective. However the one good thing about them is their skills coaches who are amazing. Unfortunately the rest of the College do not make their jobs as easy as they could be. Our new provider seems much more setup to the work we do day to day.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
To be honest, I don't. The modules are often not relevant to the work we do and are either way too technical or way too high level. We also don't use industry best technology or those tools that could be more relevant to the business we are employed by.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes there are lots of events and activities that we can become involved in. I have seen charity football matches played between teams, chess tournaments and more. Salesforce also has lots of business resource groups that represent different communities, these can be great for meeting people with a shared experience or for discovering new communities and cultures.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Salesforce to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Salesforce has an exciting culture, product set and future. While business is hard at the moment, Salesforce continues to be a market leader in CRM. The people make the company special, and with amazing benefits available to full time employees and apprentices a like, I think it makes the perfect place to complete your degree.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Salesforce?
Salesforce care about who you are as a person. So be yourself. They also want to see good communication and collaboration skills. An interest in technology is also important, being able to talk about anything from AI to new technologies and new business models. Do the preparation and understand what Salesforce does and let your personality do the rest.
