Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role of a supply chain apprentice consists of 4 days of the week doing a proper role within the business, doing a 6 month placement. Then the other day I do college work/assignments. The month consists of 2 college learning days also, which contributes to the apprenticeship exams.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme very much as there is not as much learning/sitting in a classroom as I originally thought.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed professional skills, such as communicating effectively with colleagues. I have also developed my IT skills on microsoft platforms such as excel and powerpoint. Using these platforms for delivery purposes, and getting the maximum out of them. I have also developed lots of confidence through networking with new people.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is well organised, as at the start of the apprenticeship we were informed on how the apprenticeship will unfold and what to expect and when the expect it. All of the learning days were already in the diary, so we knew months in advance about when the days would fall.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is endless support provided from my employer, the support can be provided through online systems. But there is also the early careers team who are always happy to help with any queries. Also our placement supervisors/managers are also here to help us with anything that we may need.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider is great, they always offer support and help when there is something that is not understood or whether you need any help on assignments. At the end of each learning day, there is always the opportunity to ask if you require any additional support and they put together revision plans for us.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification has helped me develop my knowledge and understanding on why things are done and why they are done in a specific way. This has helped me understand my role more, and broaden my knowledge on BAE Systems as a business. With this developed understanding, I perform better in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are plenty of extra-curricular activities to be getting involved with. These are communicated via email, by early careers. These activities usually consist of professional networking events which may take place at BAE or externally. Usually, the events are careers or open events, these take place at BAE and at local communal buildings and schools.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a great place to work as the business is so welcoming, and everyone you meet is always eager to help you out and always make time to listen to any queries or concerns. I like the fact that the majority of the learning is on the job, so that you aren't stuck in a classroom.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Make sure that you are consistent with your application, sound professional. When it gets to the interview stage, make sure you do lots of preparation as its always worth doing some research. Overall, it is a great place to work as there are a lot of perks and they treat the staff very well.
