Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves rotating around different supply chain areas every six months for three years. I then will complete a year long rotation in my fourth and final year which will support my degree and CMI accreditation.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme, it is both challenging and exciting. my responsibilities are broad but allow me to go in depth with what I am doing. There is an apparent camaraderie amongst a growing apprentice community which acts as a support network.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my communication skills a lot as well as my written and mathematical skills. the diversity of roles allows me to focus on different skills every six months. I am looking forward to developing my people leadership skills in my next rotation.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There is a clear structure to my scheme. I report into an Apprenticeship and Training Leader who then reports into the site leadership team. Apprentices are highly valued and our organisation allows us to strengthen networks high up in the business.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer allows us both day release and self-study opportunities to keep up to date and not overburdened with university work. GE also offers an in-depth benefits scheme which supports my interests outside of work. GE also has flexible working opportunities which I make use of.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have a course leader from Coventry University who is very involved in the entirety of my programme. Their insight is valuable and our Apprentice Leader always uses their knowledge of both the scheme and the individual when making decisions around placements. Their support is amazing!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification is directly focused towards the company and its current goals. My degree helps me better understand decision making, financial ventures and project management. whilst developing my soft skills like conflict resolution and communication which I find invaluable.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

GE hold an annual HealthAhead day which offers a variety of sports teams such as hockey, football etc. Our scheme also has a SPET (Social and Professional Engagement Team) who focus on extra curricular opportunities all of which help relief stress.

Why?
GE is a great company to work for with a decent salary and lots of benefits. There is plenty of opportunity to progress throughout the business and apprentices are supported with this process.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GE Aerospace?
GE look at the individual. Show yourself as a good communicator with a strong personality and a lot of potential and you stand a good chance of being successful. Practice how you work in a team before applying.
