Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role on a day to day basis involves all aspects of aircraft maintenance, currently on fixed wing aircraft but the programme also involves rotary aircraft. As an apprentice, I work alongside mechanics to perform maintenance tasks on the aircraft. The maintenance ensures the serviceability of the aircraft and that they are able to perform to the highest standard.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The programme I have joined has been everything I expected and more. My apprenticeship programme exposes me to multiple military and civilian aircrafts and allows me to work jobs that many have to wait years to be exposed to. My apprenticeship programme also exposes me to new teams that I enjoy becoming a part of.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
During my time on the apprenticeship, I have been exposed to multiple new environments that have required me to develop multiple skills. Skills that I already possessed have only improved. New skills are required when learning about new aircraft and working with new teams. These skills will remain useful throughout my career.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is well organised and structured. Within this industry, times are always changing. New aircraft is introduced and new maintenance schedules are constantly improved or created. This changing environment would make a structured apprenticeship program difficult, despite this i have felt like every placement I have attended has been welcoming and has felt very well prepared.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer provides all the support that I may need. My employer provides support for me to complete my apprenticeship to the best of my abilities and to become a mechanic that is suited to a harsh and busy environment. My employer also provides support for my future even if this does not involve themselves.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My training provider provides very factual and helpful support and ensures that I have a full understanding of systems that I may be exposed to through my career. My training provider can sometimes be difficult to gain a clear response from, this may be due to the amount of apprentices that they have to support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification that I gain from my training provider helps me to gain a full understanding of the systems that I am exposed to. It encourages me to research a system until I have a full understanding of the system itself. My qualification sometimes takes me away from my practical experience which I feel should take priority.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Extra curricular activities within my apprenticeship are plentiful as they are often organised by the teams that I work with. The teams that I work with consist of like minded people that enjoy the outdoors and similar hobbies. It is helpful to have team members that enjoy getting involved with extra curricular activities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Boeing UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would and have recommended my apprenticeship to a friend. I would do this as I feel that the apprenticeship has helped to better myself as an individual as well as build a career in a very competitive industry that I can sustain throughout my working life, and maintain a successful career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Boeing UK?
The tips that I would give to others when applying for this apprenticeship is to be themselves and allow their own passion to whatever it may be towards, shine through. Passion and drive towards existing hobbies helps to portray yourself as a driven person who has the capabilities to apply yourself to any incident thrown at you throughout your career.
