Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I am a manufacturing engineering electrical apprentice, my role is to take care of anything electrical on site. This means carrying out maintenance and installation work all around site. All my co-workers are friendly and help me learn.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I find the work I carry out is interesting, but it gets frustrating at times as I am doing online learning with no tutors which is self-motivated.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have developed a few skills such as fault diagnosis, but maybe not as much as I'd have liked since the beginning of the apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Somewhat organised, but there is room for improvement when it comes to what learning courses to be put on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
They provide support for whatever I need if asked.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My training provider is helpful, but the online training I am taking isn't as it is all online and there are no tutors to teach or help me out if I'm troubled.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My NVQ qualification helps me reflect on work carried out and retain it easier while the BTEC I am completing isn't as useful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Not that I have heard of.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Tarmac to a friend?
No
Why?
As an apprentice, there are better learning opportunities elsewhere which will give you actual tutoring in a college for your Level 3 instead of having to learn it all independently.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tarmac?
It's a good company to work for if you're not an apprentice, but if you are it may be more effective having your apprenticeship elsewhere.
