Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role is in Fleet Planning and involves planning meeting slides, configuring Excel workbooks, other admin tasks as well as daily, weekly and monthly meetings relating to the maintenance and status of relevant aircraft.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I'm fairly enjoying the programme, especially the technological side of it, I'm constantly looking to expand my knowledge and abilities however, especially when it comes to speaking roles and presenting thing to other areas of the business.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My presentation skills, organisational skills & timekeeping and my Microsoft Office skills - particularly Excel and PowerPoint - have all improved significantly in this apprenticeship, as well as adapting to an office environment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I would say the apprenticeship is almost in 2 separate sections. The placement side and the college side. It sometimes feels like they're not very cohesive and it's almost up to me to make sure everyone is on the same page. This can sometimes lead to a conflict of duties and a lack of time to attend to both areas of the programme sufficiently.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I am constantly asked if things are ok and given every opportunity to get support. I have no issues with this aspect whatsoever. Any questions I ask are also usually answered in good time as well.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I am constantly asked if things are ok and given every opportunity to get support. I have no issues with this aspect whatsoever. Any questions I ask are also usually answered in good time as well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
There is not much specific to my role, however things like good communication and company policy are things that improving my knowledge on has led to me improving as an employee and apprentice as a result.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
no

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because they look after you as an employee and give you a relative amount of freedom with hybrid working and flexible working hours. More specific to my experience, the culture is also quite good, with there being no toxic tendencies on the whole.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Read up on what the company does before you join and don't be too overwhelmed if you don't understand everything in the first month, because there's a crazy amount to learn and it takes time.
