Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role involves a mix between university study, work on aerospace projects and a level 4 diploma in engineering and advanced manufacturing
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my program. I feel like it's been highly beneficial to my development as a software engineer

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have continued to develop my skills in programming, but also learned skills in other areas such as requirements, software design and software quality

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The placements and diploma feel pretty well organised. The only part that I don't find organised is the university but this is on the university's side rather than the company
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I feel well supported by my employer both through my placements and my skills coach.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I feel very well supported by BAE when working towards my diploma as my progress is regularly reviewed at my progress reviews. I also get good feedback on the work I submit. The lower rating is due to the university, where organisation in some modules has been poor
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel that a decent amount of the work I have done at university has helped me to excel in my role and understand concepts easier,.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, I have been to a couple of networking events. We also had outward bound which was a very fun experience

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because it's a great place to complete an apprenticeship. It's great for developing your skills, adapting to working life out of school and you feel very well supported to develop and thrive in your role
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Providing you put the work in, you'll likely excel. Also, if you're going in out of school or college then don't feel intimidated. The company supported me well to adapt from academic to professional life.
