Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Monitoring the overall progress of a project and reporting to the Project Managers of its status. Ensuring that schedules are followed and budgets are monitored to an extend. Looking at what has been spent and whether we have enough human resource for the work to be completed.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love it, I enjoy coming to work every day and experiencing real life projects. I have great responsibility over my work which makes it worthwhile to know that I am making a difference.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, loads! Mainly my confidence and stakeholder management. I am pushed out of my comfort zone and encouraged to speak to as many new people as possible.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well structured and organised efficiently. We have frequent progress checks and targets set so I always know how to improve.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have the right resources to do my job and know the right people to talk to, there is always somebody readily available. I get a lot of support from my employer to encourage me to do well and to help with the apprenticeship side of things.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The support is really good from my training provider however I do feel that the teaching could be improved. It is not engaging enough and tends to be the same every week, reading off a slide. I also learn better when I am in the building and so going into Uni more would be beneficial.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I think that a lot of the things we learn correlate well together by fitting into the workplace. I am able to use my skills across both work and University which helps to tie everything together. I do feel that the University course is very literature based rather than project control, number, math based. I wonder if this could be looked into.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I have been a STEM Ambassador for a year now which is beneficial to share my knowledge with others. I am not aware of any sporting events that go on within the business. I attend social events with my team if there are any.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The benefits that i get from this company are second to none. It is an amazing place to work as they look after you and support you in everything. I am in the best position that I could be in now by starting my career with BAE.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Focus on your skills and how you can apply them into the workplace. For an apprenticeship you dont need to prove how clever you are, the company will teach you the knowledge, thats why you are moving role, to learn new things.
