Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
on work days i work on the shopfloor doing whatever is requested of me by my manager. this could include, fitting, painting, sealing, clipping, function testing, bolting and drilling
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
at the start it was really good, however as time has gone on i have become more and more alienated by issues and problems that have come up on the course

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
yes absolutley. i have developed new skills which include attention to detail and doing jobs to a high standard. also doing the jobs like painting, fitting and sealing these give me a new skillset which i did not have before.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
it is extremely disorganised. there is around 3 aspects to the program that are college work, NVQ and shopfloor. these 3 arms dont seem to communicate and when there is it is extremely poor. this hampers our progression on the course and we are left to pick up the pieces.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
Some parts of my employer help but others do not. they seem to be to busy with others to help the MechElec apparentices.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
due to issues on the course out of the apprentices control we have been left around 1 year behind schedule on our NVQ work. the majority of management belives this is for us as apprentices to catch up on and mostly refuse to give us time to do it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
the courses and topics that my training provider teaches us has absolutley no effect on what we do on the shopfloor whatsoever. all practical work has been learned whilst working on the shopfloor.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
there are some. nowhere near as many as we were led to believe at the start of the programme. i have done some school careers events but thats about it

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Airbus to a friend?
No
Why?
it is a very monotonous course which was hyped up to be an amazing course with lots of oppurtunities but has just conisted of problem after problem. i might as well just be working on the shopfloor as i forget im an apprentice
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Airbus?
be very careful before applying and dont think that it will be full of amazing oppurtunities as it is a tough course but there are good momments.
