Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My job Entails learning the fundamentals for becoming an aircraft engineer. each day I will be assigned along with a team where I will work hands on day to day tasks on live aircraft. The first year you are given the knowledge and skills that are required to understand the theory of flight and systems that will be found upon each aircraft. the next two years are working on aircraft all over the UK for example Gatwick airport.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
This has been a great experience for me, leaving home at such a young age to go and follow a dream I didn't think could be a reality. along the way I have shared memories with lots of like minded people who are keen and eager to get into the aeronautical industry.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
From starting this apprenticeship I have became a lot more confident as a person overall with my listening and communicating skills increasing hugely. I have also improved my team skills and working within diverse teams. I have also gained great hand skills from working with top spec aircraft tools on a day to day basis and completing tasks to the highest standard i can in specific time conditions.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The apprenticeship has a firm structure and is a one of a kind opportunity not only does this apprenticeship allow you to work on live aircraft but all different aspects of aircraft, from it being fixed wing 737-800 to rotary working on the brand new Apaches. this is something no other apprenticeship can offer.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a great amount of support from my employer and all the engineers I work along beside and always there to share the knowledge and experience that they have to offer which I am truly grateful for. I have a mentor within the company which always checks in on me and helps keep me motivated to keep striving.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
when working towards my qualifications I have a dedicated assessor who checks in on me and pushes me to get my NVQ in and to a high standard. with exams my employer gives me any amount of time I am required to make sure I get the results that are desired and have plenty of helping aids to ensure I pass the exams ahead.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
have the qualification that I have has helped me hugely within my apprenticeship as it has given me the background knowledge and fundamental understanding of the operation of an aircraft and with this back ground knowledge going out onto live aircraft I can now work and see everything I have learnt in a class room come to life.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
there are plenty of activities that there can be to get involved in from all the other apprentices being very social and working through the apprenticeship together. with the teams you work along with during the apprenticeship you also end up socializing and spending a lot of time with each other.
