Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As an apprentice, my role is primarily to observe and learn from others while working, as well as learning and improving on my skills in college. It is my responsibility to maintain my own safety and that of others around me when I'm working, however I'm not responsible for anyone other than myself otherwise.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme very much, I feel as if I have progressed well and have learnt lots as a result of it, as well as getting to experience new things and begin building a successful future for myself. I enjoy the work that we do and am invested in learning new things and improving my skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes I have learnt lots of new skills during my apprenticeship, as well as building on and improving some skills I already had. For example, I have learnt how to wire a plug and I have improved my hand skills with things such as using saws and screwdrivers or operating a drill.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I believe the programme is well structured and thought out, we have received a variety of learning experiences in different places due to the course being organised in a way that we aren't kept in the same place for extended periods of time and therefore get the opportunity to learn new things and see different places.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I am able to contact a number of people at any time with any queries I may have. Depending on the nature of my questions I know that different people will be able to provide better insight and advice depending on the context and therefore who is best to contact.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The lectures at the college have been extremely helpful with supporting us throughout the course and ensuring we are always understanding and progressing. They have created and provided online learning resources as well as provided personal help to anyone who may be struggling. They are also available to ask for help if required
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I believe that by learning the theory and the classroom based learning behind the work that we do is massively helpful for providing a much more complete and detailed understanding of our roles, as well as the tasks we are expected to complete. This improves our competence and confidence in the work place and makes us better employees in my opinion.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I'm not completely sure about the extra curricular activities provided by or made available by my employer, however I know that there is a rugby team made available to some of the employees and am sure there are other opportunities as well I just don't know much about them.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Tata Steel to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have enjoyed my time with Tata thoroughly and believe that I can have a promising and successful future with the company. I find the work interesting, therefore if others share my interests then I think they would also enjoy and benefit from working for Tata, like I have already.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tata Steel?
Pay attention and give your full effort during the application process. Ensure that you have a strong and convincing CV in order to secure an interview and then focus of being sociable and interesting as this is just as important as being intelligent enough in order to complete the job.
