Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Our roles changes every 6 months for the first 3 years, we do 5 core rotations which include core business functions relating to supply chain. In each area you are submerged into a role and given projects to run to develop our leadership skills. We spend 20% of the job which is really beneficial to study.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the programme, university study want the route I wanted to take. The scheme has allowed me to develop academically, but also professionally. Giving me highly valuable work experience and a much larger knowledge base about businesses, and supply chain as a whole. I really enjoy the scheme as I feel we are encouraged to develop as individuals!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

During my apprenticeship I have learnt many new skills, I have ran and managed project which has allowed me to develop my communication and time management skills consequently improving my organization skills . I have also developed my written skills, helping me structure and write emails, and make presentations, ensuring they look professional.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Our apprenticeship is 20% of the job, this includes University days, study time and other enrichment activities. University days are structured, usually having the same day Bi-weekly. Self study time is within your control to take, I find this beneficial as you can plan your study time around your job.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We get lots of support from Apprentice management, Placement managers and University lecturers.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Studying business management has allowed me put real time learning into my placements. It has helped me drive projects successfully and develop professionally and personally.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is social activities, enrichment, residentials, and much more, I was really impressed with how much there is to get involved with. especially with the worry of 'missing out on uni life' I think GE have great extra-curricular to get involved with
