Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a nursery nurse. I look after the children, I’m based in preschool at the moment so I plan activities and set them out, assist at meal times, change nappies and clothes when required, write observations and moments, giving feedback to parents, parents meetings, upload pictures and information on to the app, etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I absolutely love it, I love coming in to work everyday and seeing the children and how they learn and develop. I also enjoy learning new things and learning all about my role and meeting up with my tutor to focus on getting some coursework done. I love learning about the child development and brain development

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes I have, I’ve learned a lot of new skills and have really developed existing skills too. So they are to take on a leadership role, delegating tasks, I’ve learnt to be more confident and to voice my opinions, I’ve also learned to have communication skills especially in the rooms and overall, imagination, adaptability, using own initiative.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I would say it’s a very well organised and structured programme as everyone is on the same page, everything is in the right place, I know where to find any information if I’m stuck or if I need any help. The website is easily accessible and structured well too.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employers are very supportive and they help me with work matters and personal matters too. We speak every month to discuss my apprenticeship and my work load, they are extremely understanding. They are helpful when it comes to the rooms and always come in to support us in there too.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive quite a lot of support, as my training provider and tutor helps me with my coursework when I get stuck, she sends me some good links and useful websites to help me get my work done. She explains thing’s carefully and gives examples when explaining the work to me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification helps me to learn new things and to preform better in my role, because whilst doing my coursework, i have to explain and research things and it teaches me things I didn’t already know, for example, send children get really worked up, can take 6 hours to come back down, blowing bubbles helps to calm down a child
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
No there are not but there are lots of different courses to choose and develop new skills, we have noodle now courses. SEND, safeguarding, food hygiene, baby room training, bottle making and we have lots of different training that we do each month as a team and we can do individually too
