Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I have been working on first year project at the moment and so i have been working with Arduinos and pi's. I also regularly do some study during the day as well as attend any meetings that i have during the day. I also regularly find myself shadowing other apprentices as they do their work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The program at work is really enjoyable as it is well organized, well funded and has improved as each previous year gives feedback on how they found it. The tasks they have us do are helpful and make sense in the context of what we do later on. Its really well done.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt and developed a lot of skills while i have been working at GE. I have been able to really develop and further my leadership skills as there is always a cohort lead who has to take charge of meeting and general organization for the month. I have also leant a lot of skills used in the workplace which i never had the chance to learn before this.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is well organized as we always have something to be doing. Our manager does a good job of looking over us and providing some feedback and pointing us in the right direction. It is also structured as it provides a lot of support and time to develop ourselves.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive a lot of support as we are always being given or being offered training. I think that they have done this really well and by combining linkedin learning and their own educational courses they are able to cover a lot of topics and things for us to learn
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

UWE on the other hand has been a disappointment. They are very unorganized and they struggle to communicate to their own students, let alone apprentices who end up often getting wrong information about tests or work they have to complete. It is a real shame that is happens as i would expect better from a big university.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I learn a lot of things a uni and i feel like it really helps me at work as it provides me with a much deeper understanding as to what goes on at work. It is a noticeable change as i will come in one day after uni and pick up on somethingat work that i leant the day before which is a satisfying feeling.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are so many extra-curricular activities at work. There are all types of things such as football, yoga, mountain biking, language lessons etc... There are also often meetings for people to get together and talk and network which is a great way of meeting new people. GE is really good in regards of stuff to do after work

Why?
GE is a really great employer who cares deeply about your satisfaction. They always strive to make the workspace a more comfortable and pleasant space to be in and attend. They have given me a lot of different opportunities to lean which i have found very helpful. GE is really good.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GE Aerospace?
Be professional and polite, and always look out of others. If you have a passion for aerospace this will help a lot as it will make you seem like you care about what we do. It will also help with work as you might even have a basic understanding of how things work
