4.2/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Depends on the placement e.g. Documentation, Meetings, Brainstorming, Modelling and diagrams (MBSE), hands on with equipment, evaluating work etc. College aspect specialises in electronics engineering.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Excellent programme, very enjoyable with great people and I am constantly developing. Potential, lack of in-depth, low-level engineering, but nonetheless great.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
MBSE, Systems Engineering, Electronics engineering, People and Presentation Skills, Programming e.g. SQL, general engineering skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My experience is quite well structured with regular 6 month placements. College aspect has gotten messy in my last year, however this was down to the college, and work have been doing their best to help.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Consistent attempt to help your development and care for you as a person.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Depends on the teacher. The college itself has tried to get a new teacher and looks like they have finally resolved the issue. Generally however, they set up someone to ensure you pass your apprenticeship criteria. So overall good.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Difficult as our college course specialises in ground level electronics whereas work focuses on higher-level integration. Both give me good breadth and college helps me think about new ideas to bring into work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Lots of socials e.g. nights out, football, badminton, rock climbing, etc.
