Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work shifts, which involves plant maintenance with fault finding. Every day is different and I learn something new every shift.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy it to a high extent, as I am able to learn a lot whilst gaining knowledge from my engineers and mentors with plenty of help if there is something I don’t know.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I’ve developed many skills, such as fault finding, problem solving, team working, communication and on the job hand skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The courses are well structured and fit nicely with college and NVQ.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive plenty of support and will always receive an answer for something I do not know, or I will have assistance to find out the answer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The scheme is very well structured and plenty of support and training is offered. There’s nothing to lose with the scheme.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tata Steel?
Always try to increase your knowledge and know when to apply it. If you don’t know the answer to something, do everything you can to find out.
