Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Various six months placements around the business, currently in my third year of my apprenticeship and one day a week I go to university for my project management degree.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy most of it. I enjoy the various placements and being able to see various parts of the business and also I like going to study every week for my degree. I like being able to learn whilst on the job.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I developed a lot of skills and competency over my three years here.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Well organised and structured. Only thing is university has been slightly disorganised due to us having half Furness College training and half University of Cumbria. Apart from that, my programme is very structured and organised with placements lined up and support given.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a great amount of support. Early careers are great and skills coaches are always there if you need something, guidance or help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Quite supported. Been a few problems with the teaching, but early careers have always helped and tried to resolve it for us.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
A little. Some things do not feel too relevant, but are good to know about for the future. I am sure in my future I will use most of my degree that I have learnt.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, networking events and also STRETCH activities we can get involved in away from placement.

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Really good opportunity, learning whilst on-the-job and earning too. Lots of skills and knowledge and behaviours to learn and get a degree.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Be confident, show you are willing to develop yourself and your career, why you want the job and what it means to you.
