Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working along side qualified people that have been doing the job for years and have a lot of knowledge, learning how to use different machines and apparatus. completing apprenticeship written work. being aloud to work independently and be trusted to do the work to a good enough standard. talks with managers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i enjoy the programme, you form a good friendship with the other apprentices and that makes coming into work more enjoyable, the routine of getting up and going to work also is something i enjoy. you also get to work with people that have a lot of experience and it is great to be able to learn from them
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

yes, most of the skills that are learnt here are on things that you have never done before, such as working at height and in confined spaces. having a wider understanding of different tools and equipment, and learning how to do certain processes to a higher standard, for example soldering boards.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

not very well organised, there isn't enough communication from the people that are controlling the apprenticeship, from the time at the training centre to when you go on placement the organisation of the course is not very good and it can lead to things being rushed and crammed in a bit.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

you get the most support from the people you work with as they are the people that will know the most about you as you will naturally talk to them whilst you are with them, managers seem less interested and some can seem a bit distant , but this is due to them having different stresses.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

during the time you spend doing written work it differs due to where i am based, the people that mark my work and watch me complete jobs, dont know what we do so it is impossible for them to give the supportthat is required. however during courses ample support is given.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

it definitely deepens your understanding of what you are doing, not all of them it seems so clear on why you have to learn it but at the very least it is a bit interesting to learn anyway. however some courses are great and really apply to the work that gets completed.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are many extra curricular activities and events that get held, every week there seems to be something new to be involved in, this is great for the people that want to do these extra things, it is also a good way to meet new people through the apprentice socials.

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
good stable company to work for, the job is interesting with lots of nieches that you can find yourself enjoying, the salary is fairly good especially if you don't have any big out goings, you will learn some good skills and meet some great people, and if all else fails you get a qualification at the end of it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
research the company make sure you are interested in what they do, try you hardest at every stage, and try to take in as much information as you can when someone is showing you or telling you how to do something, as all there knowledge can later be used in other tasks to make them easier.
