Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
basic role involves vessel and machine cleaning. interacting with the manufacturing process to meet certain product specifications. we also perform plant checks that check the manufacturing process and the standard of our mechanical equipment. we also use a DCS system to monitor the process and make changes to recipes based on certain specifications.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
so far i have thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship. the work environment that i am in is very good and the people that i work with are great. i also enjoy the job that i do as i get a sense of satisfaction and achievment when i complete a job as i get to be involved in it from start to finish.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
i have learnt numerous new skills in my job role, some of which are specific to my job and some of them are much broader. for example, my knowledge of manufacturing process and the chemical manufacturing industry has improved enormously. my social skills have also imrpoved as you have to be able to communicate effectively in this environment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
my apprenticeship has been fairly well organised given that it ran through covid. we have regular progress meetings where we discuss how my apprenticeship is going and what i need to do in order to get a full time job. the college work is also well thought out and organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
i receive fairly good support from my employer. the operators and engineers that i work with on a day to day basis are very supportive of my apprenticeship which is always helpful. i also receive a decent amount of support from the apprentice team which can be quite hard for them given the amount of apprentices on site.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
i have received a fair amount of support from the training provider towards my qualifications i. the support for my city and guilds qualification was very good and my tutors were very active with helping us pass our exams and learn the units required for us to pass the apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
i feel like my college qualifications give me a good base knowledge of the role that can help me progress in my career as the units are not solely focused my job role. however, i feel like my NVQ was not relevant to my job and in fact hindered my apprentice training as i couldnt focus on my on the job training.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
the social side at my work is excellent and is deffinetly one of the best parts of the job. there are numerous sports and social clubs that involve everyone on site. this allows for a good networking environment which in turn leads to greater morale amongst the employees. there are always shift days out aswell whether it be going round leeds or going to the races.
