Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
External Affairs are responsible for E.ON's interactions with our Westminster stakeholders, from Government departments to civil servants, backbench MP's to Minister's themselves. We look at energy policy in the round and are involved at the earliest stage of change, before anything is written into law and implemented, and a core focus of our work is responding to consultations on various areas of energy policy.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
i feel that the freedom that comes with the scheme unlocks the ability to do placements in which you're passionate in, and therefore i have thoroughly enjoyed the scheme

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Throughout my years on the scheme, all areas of my skills have improved. My personal development has been allowed to flourish and i am now more confident, can hold meetings, manage time, as well as my business acumen being developed from scratch starting the scheme

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
This is definitely dependent on the level the DA wants to have a structured approach, which i think should be encouraged as structure doesn't work for everyone, however in terms of onboarding/ offboarding and reviews and objectives i feel need to be updated and more relevant.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
E.on has provided an excellent amount of support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
We have 20% of our time dedicated to study which is extremely important, however i feel more could potentially be done by unis in the essential first years.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The theory i have taken from uni has allowed me, in some placements, to understand process' quicker and allowed me to hit the ground running in terms of basic knowledge in the teams
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes the Das currently have a 5-a-side team

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend E.ON UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
i feel that the support and freedom surrounding the scheme is not what other providers typically provide, it allows you to work in areas you feel will add value to your personal journey.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
I think its defiantly worth noting to not be too hard on yourself when settling in, its a big change, just as university is and its completely okay to make mistakes, speak up and establishing what works best for you is vital in your success on the scheme :)
