Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work in both valuation and agency roles and my current main focus is on corporate advisory of deals and valuations. I work in a range of sectors within the leisure industries, such as marinas, garden centres, holiday parks etc. Each project is very different and my day to day tasks change frequently which I like.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the flexibility of my university course being online and the support I get from the university as well as my company. I also feel the subjects and modules that I am being taught are very relevant to my day to day processes in the day job which is helpful.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes I've worked on current and developed new skills. I've recently been taking courses during my work days on different software's which we use within the team as well as developing my skills in excel on a regular basis. These skills are really useful for all the jobs I do.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Very well organised and structured. In some ways it is almost too regimented when it comes to compliance. For example, for the apprenticeship scheme we have to produce an off the job diary which is particularly strict and often takes up a lot of time which I don't particularly agree with when we also do an APC diary and CPD diary on top of this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A lot. I have frequent meetings, informal catch ups and formal training days with other graduates on the same path as me. I like hearing everyone else's experiences. I have a good relationship with all my line manager, supervisor and councillor and feel I can ask anyone else for help when I need it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A fair amount. I have my progress reviews every 3 months and feel I can contact my supervisor whenever needed. The tutors for each module are really helpful as well and are always happy to help with anything from the content to the assessments or just general questions about structures.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Yes, well, I feel that the qualification I am doing is very relevant and helpful to my day to day role and therefore helps me improve in my skills and work output. Each module is well made to be useful and well structured which is helpful when learning and revising.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, I'm involved in the tag rugby team which trains each week on Wednesdays. I am also taking part in a couple runs with a Savills team and a JLL charity triathlon which I am doing with a couple other team members in the summer months. I also attend a monthly networking event with young professionals in the oxford area.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Its a welcoming environment, everyone is very supportive and wants to see you thrive. There's a good social side and many opportunities to get involved in and the company pushes you to be the best you can.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
Research the company and job you're going for, they want to know you have a genuine interest and want to develop your skills in the sector. What experience do you have, even if its not directly relevant having transferable skills is really helpful. Try show off your personality and show how you would sit well within the team.
