Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am on placement in the Safety, Health, and environment department and I am with the communications and engagement team so my day to day role includes participating in meetings about future plans. I do quite a lot of work on Excel and SharePoint
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my program, I am treated well both at university by my lecturers and also in my placement by my placement manager and my team. The work in my placement is something I enjoy and it is very engaging, no two days are the same.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I have learnt many new skills whilst both on my placement and at university. An example of new skills which I have learnt would be the controlling of projects in terms of time, cost and quality. An example of an existing skill I have developed would be leadership.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is fairly well structured. I have rotations in my placement which are perfectly placed which I believe are very beneficial for my career development. In regards to university, I do think the programme could be better structured in regards to which order we do the modules in.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a great amount of support from my employer. I have 12 weekly reviews with my skills coach in regards to my progress which I think are very beneficial and definitely something I look forward too. I also have regular meetings with my placement manager for support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

As mentioned in the previous question, I have 12 weekly reviews with my skills coach where we talk about how I am progressing towards my qualification, she provides really good support and helps me if I have any requests or if I need any support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

There has been many examples where I have used what I have learnt at university in my role in my placement. An example of this would be using both Microsoft Project and Excel. These are 2 applications I have used at university which I have been able to apply.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes we have a week away which is called Outward Bound. This is as a group we go to the Lake District and participate in different activities. We also have Project Management networking events.

Yes
Why?
They pay well, it is a prestigious company to work for, they have many employee benefits, they look after their staff really well, you earn whilst you learn when completing an apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Communication is something that is really important, try your best at making this one of your strong points, especially in Project Management, communication is key.
