Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Each graduate's day is different as we have 1 year placements with different teams within WTW. My role is in Risk & Analytics, so I work on various projects for clients, in which we are looking to better optimise their current insurance structure using statistical models. My role involves me working in various project teams so I get good exposure to the business and meeting new people.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the grad scheme programme so far. I think joining a large graduate cohort really helps as you all become close as you are all in a very similar situation. Additionally, I like the fact that in my role I was trusted with real work very quick after starting and this has definitely helped my development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My communication skills have improved significantly since joining the scheme. Daily interactions with colleagues as well as opportunities to talk at client meetings have really helped. Additionally, I use a lot of excel and other modelling tools within my role so my skills in using these have also improved significantly.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well structure and has been carefully designed and evolved over the years for which it has been running. The programme is ran by three people whose role is solely focused on the programme and this is great. If I every need help with anything support is always readily available.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The support at WTW is great, both from my team and the graduate scheme. If I am stuck with anything there is always someone available to help. Also, it is great to see that when you ask for help people are genuinely happy to help, they are not doing because they have to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We receive time off each week to focus on our studies which really helps manage the study load. Additionally webinars and training are provided by an external provider BPP, which help to provide us with information to pass the exams. The training providers are always happy to answer any questions that we might have as well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Working towards the CII really helps with my day to day activities in my role as it helps expand my understanding of insurance and helps to provide the theoretical knowledge to compliment the learning which you do on the job. I think it has been really useful to work and learn at the same time.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
One activity which I am involved in is writing partners, where I write to a year 5 at a local school and I have really enjoyed this. Also the graduate scheme organise multiple socials for everyone, which has created a great environment to get to know the other graduates outside of work.
