Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am doing 4 days at work and 1 day study. I am a graduate surveyor on the valuation pathway with the Norwich Development team. Currently I provide assistance with valuations including all necessary due diligence, comparables search, planning application search, drafting reports, accompanying team members on property inspections and business meeting.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Absolutely enjoy it. Masters course I am doing at the moment is so relevant to the daily job and helps a lot to understand various tasks at work, The program itself is very much up to date, refers to recent developments in the industry, and the provider gives an access to an extensive library containing current property magazines etc.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since I am doing a lot of research my research and analytical skills have already improved. I have also learned a lot about formal writing and report format, property measurement methods, and have also been using analytical and communication skills a lot on the daily basis. I have learned to use Promaps and navigate Savills maps.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very organised. All material is split in weeks, each section mentions how many hours you need to study that particular section, the week schedule is very straightforward and you can always go back or forward to access previous of future material. The assignments are also clearly laid out and are given with an extensive notice.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer hugely supports my study and professional development. Having one day dedicated study leave helps to keep on track with the course. At the workplace I discuss my study topics with my line manager and team members and they are always happy to help, to answer questions or give some advice.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The module tutors are very responsive and it seems like they are really encouraging students to study. They have weekly forums where everyone can ask a question or raise a concern, and they are always there to respond. There are many ways to contact tutors or module leaders in the UCEM and on a few occasions when I contacted them I always got an answer.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
This qualification is essential to perform my role; I am planning to become a RICS chartered member and a registered valuer therefore I am relying on this qualification to get me there. The whole system of continuous professional development that comes along with the qualification is aimed for the professionals to stay up to date with their knowledge and skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are sport teams and events but unfortunately I don't have much time to participate in them as working and studying at the same time takes all my time at the moment. Professional networking events are popular with my employer and they are usually organised during working hours therefore I am able to participate in them and I am using this opportunity to meet new people.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Savills is the company where they really look after you, your wellbeing, and your professional development. If you work hard and demonstrate work ethics you can achieve a lot in Savills. Savills pay and holiday allowance is generous and then also have a number of benefits, rewards and retail discounts, like they say - every little helps.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
Look through Savills website and read about Savills mission, values and business approach. This will help you to prepare for interview and also gives you an opportunity to showcase your working ethics and views on build environment development, ESG and other hot topics in property. Savills culture is inclusive for all but you need to be presentable and look smart.
