Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Answering emails.
Reviewing new broker presentations
Revising for my exams coming up in April
Creating underwriter rationales for new business
Using pricing forms in order to get a fair quote out to the broker
Keeping new business spreadsheet up do date
Using/keeping internal systems up to date
Send instructions to client services when a policy is accepted
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The main part of the apprentice is the revision and i believe we have been given all the resources in order to be successful in passing the exams. However also as part of the apprenticeship we have to complete learning modules which don't really relate to the day to day job.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes as i new completely new to insurance i had no background knowledge of anything. Therefore, since i joined in August i have learned everything from basic housekeeping and updating systems to reviewing and quoting new business. This all in turn has helped me to develop my confidence and my organisational skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Overall i believe that the programme is well structured. We get given 6 hours a week to revise and complete off the job learning which is included in our working hours. The turn around date for passing each exam is quite quick given the volume we have to learn but is achievable if you stick to the learning time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I Receive a lot of support from my employer. When i have asked for study time or have had meeting related to my apprenticeship i have never been told i'm unable to or i can't do it which has allowed me to stay on track in order to get my CII.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I believe the support i receive is very good. I have a call i would say between every 2 weeks to a month where we are able to discuss how i have been finding the work and my progress in relation to the off the job learning and my progress toward my first exam.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Being honest a lot of the stuff you learn in the exam is to do with the wider contact of insurance and may not directly relate to your role. However this is complete understandable as not everyone will go into or stay in the same role forever so all bases need to be covered.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I haven't personally been invited to many but i do often see and hear the senior people in the company arranging these sort of event so hopefully i will be able to attend more of these in the future. v v v v v v v v v v

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RSA Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think the main benefit of working for RSA is the flexibility that they have. The ability to be able to work from home a couple days a week gives me a much better feeling of a work life balance and if i ever need time to do certain things it is very rarely turned down.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSA Group?
Research into the company and find out exactly what they expect of you and what will be involved in your day to day role. Ensure that you are aware the the company's values as they are very important to the business and the people that are in senior positions.
